Youtube Comment Moderation Update - July 3rd, 2018

On July 3rd, 2018, Youtube released a new update for comments which is called the Youtube Comment Moderation Update. This comment was designed to stop potentially inappropriate comments from being published immediately without the youtube channel creator's consent.

Youtube Comment Moderation Update - July 3rd, 2018

When you open your youtube creator dashboard the following message will appear.

Looking to save time moderating comments? Now you can hold potentially inappropriate comments for review and shape the tone of conversations on your channel

 This is part of the new youtube comment moderation update. When you click to change settings, the comment settings will open with new options as shown:



With two new options now available for comment moderation. With this new update in its beta working you can:

• Hold potentially inappropriate comments for review on your videos
• Hold potentially inappropriate comments for review on your channel

This will help your channel fight spam and other online abuse issues. This feature is available globally on all youtube channels. This youtube comment moderation update works on comments in the following the languages:

• English
• Spanish
• Russian
• Portuguese
• Korean
• French
• Arabic
• German
• Japanese
• Turkish,
• Vietnamese.

After a potentially inappropriate comment has been made, it is kept at the "Held for Review". Mostly comments with link spam and inappropriate remarks are held for review. You can add more words in the "blocked words" to block more comments.

These comments are not posted until you approve of them. You will have the final decision whether to approve, hide, or report these comments to youtube.

Held for Review

The comments that the system will keep from being posted will not always be spam. Sometimes even harmful comments will be posted and pass this moderation update. But after your decision, the system will keep your feedback as an approval criteria.

Its like Artificial intelligence (AI) for comments that takes feedback from user for potentially inappropriate comments and reviews the next comments using the feedback as a reference.

This way youtube can reduce spam with the help of its users. However, comments that were posted before this update will not be affected by the "Held for Review" feature. It only applies to new comments.
